When someone becomes familiar with the principles of programming, learning a second programming language will be exponentially easier than their first one. Syntax patterns and functionality are similar across languages because language designers generally exert some effort to make their languages easy to learn and understand (there are certainly exceptions).
In fact, programmers learn languages synchronously more often than one might think. Web developers may learn a front-end and back-end programming language at the same time, in addition to HTML, a markup language, and CSS, which is considered a style sheet language.
Besides, as programmers, we never fully learn everything there is to know about a language. I discover new functions, patterns, and libraries even after years of working with a language.
So, we're constantly learning new things about multiple languages every day. But when a person masters programming and logic basics, picking up additional languages at the same time will be less intimidating, and may even enrich their understanding of the languages they already know.
