This features gives more colorful information to your status with text and bright background with different fonts to share to your friends. Users has the option to select font and background with colorful text in the status.
This new features for Android and iPhone users today and also be available on web client.
However, not all users are seeing this feature go live even after updating to the latest update. WABetaInfo reports that on iOS and Android, it has been remotely activated, and full-fledged rollout is awaited. Some may get the pop up message you will get this feature soon.

For iPhone users this feature is added as a pen icon now shows next to camera icon in the new status bar. This pen icon add features like choose a font ,emoji and background colors are available options in your status. For Android users there is a floating pen icon shows up at bottom of status tab above camera icon. This new feature is not for windows phone soon will be added .
When you completed writing the status update and made necessary changes you will get a green tick mark to the text status will be send to your contacts as we use currently.
This new features also add stickers we can also choose the text like bold , italic these are improved chat features will be added soon. Just tap and hold a word format and select the option with floating pen as it appears on your text features.
