Chinese Scientists Have Successfully Built The World's First Quantum Computers.

A team of Chinese scientists has claimed that it has built the world’s first quantum computing machine. According to them, the machine is 24,000 times faster than its international counterparts and 10-100 times faster than the first electronic computer, ENIAC.

The scientists announced their achievement at a press conference at the Shanghai Institute for Advanced Studies of University of Science and Technology of China.

Pan Jianwei, an academecian from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a leading quantum physicist, said that quantum computing exploits the ability of photos to exist in multiple states at any time. This means that it could store more information that just 1 or 0.

Quantum computer's computing power grows exponentially with the number of quantum bits that can be manipulated. The way these particles behave makes quantum computing carry out tasks quickly without using so much energy such as solving large-scale computation problems that are beyond the ability of current classical computers.

“Our architecture is feasible to be scaled up to a larger number of photons and with a higher rate to race against increasingly advanced classical computers,” the researchers said in a study published in the Journal Nature Photonics on Tuesday.

Last year, China had successfully launched the world’s first quantum satellite that will explore “hack proof” quantum communications by transmitting unhackable keys from space, and provide insight into the strangest phenomenon in quantum physics – quantum entanglement.
