Alphabet CEO Larry Page driving a Flying Car



The future of flying cars has never looked so real. Silicon Valley startup Kitty Hawk, backed by Alphabet CEO and Google co-founder Larry Page. Larry Page-funded flying tech startup Kitty Hawk has demonstrated their first prototype named Flyer. The machine is capable of flying over water bodies using eight propellers; it seats one person. Kitty Hawk Flyer will go on sale by the end of this year.



The Flyer is powered by electricity and is designed to operate over water. The Federal Aviation Administration considers it an ultralight aircraft, which do not require a pilot's license to fly. In other words, the Kitty Hawk Flyer is an extremely large drone that can transport humans from one lake house to another.

"Our mission is to make the dream of personal flight a reality. We believe when everyone has access to personal flight, a new, limitless world of opportunity will open up to them," said a statement on the website of the Kitty Hawk company, based in Google's home town of Mountain View, California. 


The craft, propelled by eight rotors, takes off and lands vertically, like a helicopter. It is said to weigh about 220 pounds (100 kilograms) and fly at speeds up to 25 miles per hour (40 kph). and can hover at 15 feet (4.5 meters) high. 

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company has not released the retail price for the car, and will not do so until the final product is available later this year. The hefty discount for members is valid for 60 days after the car is first released, according to the terms for the membership.
